Pierre-Jean-Lescure is a Criminal Justice student who moved to Las Vegas from Montreal to pursue his passion. His advisor suggested he attend UNLV in person instead of remote classes and his decision changed the trajectory of his life. Since moving away from his home he was able to learn a new language and culture from a community that supports him. Coming to UNLV he was able to show himself that it was never too late. Being an international student shows him every day that anything is possible

In October 2024, eight student group members of The Alliance of Non-Traditional Students had lunch with the President of UNLV, Dr Whitfield, the VP of Student Affairs, Dr. Rogers, and the VP and CFO, Casey Wymann. It was an informal 1 hour lunch in the student dining commons, while other students were also having lunch. There was no agenda other than they came to listen to us, our ideas, thoughts and concerns. Many talked about their experiences, both positive and negative, the need for more detailed data collection of incoming students to better identify the population by not just age but marital and parent status, working status and more. The need for a policy that protects parents of school age children when they must miss a class due to family events like an ER visit, a disability department for out of classroom accessibility.
